Back to Romania

Posted by PicasaThis is where Alex, Bob's co-worker lives. Her apartment is directly above her Mother's apartment.
Alex had Bob, me and Ryan over for a traditional Romanian dinner. It was wonderful! Yummy! We began at Alex's Mother's apartment sampling several different Romanian dishes. Then we went up stairs to see Alex's apartment. In a while we returned to Alex's mother's apartment where she had several more different dishes. Chip said he also helped to prepare some of the food. We had a wonderful time and really appreciate how welcome they made us feel and for all the trouble they went to show us their life style.

It could have been worse.

I will continue with the photos from Romania in a few days. So check back later to see more. After nearly 24 hours of travel between Saturday and Sunday we are home. While we were gone the lower part of our house flooded and sat for about a week after a very bad storm. The water drained partly into the walls. Our kids hired a restoration company for us last Friday. They came in and cut out part of the walls, took out carpet, and now the lower part of the house is taped off using fans, de-humidifiers and it is about 117 degrees in that area. Hopefully they can put a stop to the mold. Once they are finished an insurance adjuster will come in to access the damage. So, our house will be under construction for a while. I will be dealing with some of these matters for a couple of days. Please check back later as I have many more pictures of Romania. The positive note is that we did not have a "Grand Forks" catastrophe nor did we have a Florida hurricane disaster which some of our family had to deal with in the past. But, I can see it is going to be a pain!

We took a cable car to the top of Mount Tampa which offers fantastic views of the city of Brasov.

At a medieval festival in the fort at Brasov was an archery game. Chip, Alex's fianc'e, accepted the challenge. The first photo shows him starting to release the arrow and the second
photo shows the arrow in mid air. Way to go Bob!
