I will leave my postings of Barcelona with these images of Sagrada Familia. This church under construction is privately funded. They began working in 1882 and is expected to be complete in 2026. I find this amazing! This is considered the master-work of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926). A portion of the building's interior is scheduled to open for tours and worship by September 2010. The church will be proclaimed and consecrated a Basilica by Pope Benedict XVI on November 7, 2010.
Thank you Jane for sharing your photos of Barcelona. As I posted these photos I almost felt as though I visited there.

I will have to get back with you on what the vehicle is and what it is used for in the photo "by the shores of Barcelona, Spain" after I talk with Jane.
If you blog and like the larger images go to my sister-in-law's blog: http://mypixelatedoasis.blogspot.com . Angela has very explicit information on how to achieve the larger images.

After we returned from vacation we were blessed with a visit from Davia. Davia is the oldest daughter of our friends who moved to Australia. Our friends had six children. There are two girls and one boy living here in the US and two girls and one boy living in Australia. This is the first time Davia has been back to the US for about eight years. It was great to see her. Her sisters Tamara and Taryn and also in the photo with me. Tamara and Taryn are both expecting baby girls one month apart in September and October.

It is late. Bob is on call and is on a call. This is a perfect opportunity for me to post some images from the 4th of July. The kids came over and spent the night. They invited some friends and we had a relaxing day. The wind was blowing approximately 30 miles per hour and the water was very rough. We took the boat out and had a very difficult time getting it back in the boat house because of the waves.

Rob and Joy both had birthdays in the month of July. We had a little celebration this past Saturday. I made them a red velvet cake but I am not showing the pictures because it looked very sorry. The candles I bought melted immediately and dripped all over the frosting. We removed the candle wax and had a piece. I am very glad it tasted better than it looked. We are always happy and thankful to be able to celebrate the kids. Happy Belated Birthday Rob and Joy!
Bob and I extend our deepest thanks to our daughter Jane for inviting us to Portugal. Little did we know it would leave such a huge impression. It was so wonderful to be able to spend the unforgettable time with her especially since we do not get to see her often.
I spent several weeks posting some of my favorite pictures of Portugal. In the process of being there and reviewing the photos I think I fell in love with Portugal and hope we can return someday. It would be a great place to go during July and August while it is the hottest time of the year in Texas. It wasn't just one thing in particular but everything. The weather, the sea shore, the scenery, the homes and buildings, how well kept the country is, the artful tile on the buildings, the history, the restaurants, the castles, how laid back everyone is, and how wonderful the people are. There is so much more for us to see and do. Portugal is still calling for us.
