I am continuing with the beach photos but I am focusing on my daughter Joy as it is her birthday.  If you are lucky your kids become your friends as they get older. I am fortunate that all of my kids are also my close friends. Joy is wife to Rob and mother to Brooke and Austin.  We usually talk on the phone most every day which brings to mind that I need to call her and wish her a happy birthday.  Happy Birthday Joy! We all love you very much.

While focusing on Peyton and Brooke I thought I would add a few more photos of them before moving on.  We spent last week at beautiful Perdido Key in Florida with part of our family members. I have many more photos to add to that trip in the near future.

THOSE GIRLS ARE ALWAYS UP TO SOMETHING!
Cousins, Brooke and Peyton  have kept everyone amused through the years.  Click on the video and I will assure you will laugh as much as we all did as they found an old pair of Grandpa'a fat pants.  This took place in approximately 2007.

What is wrong with this picture besides that fact it is blurry?  They are sun tanning on beach towels on the floor under the sky light.

This picture was taken at Jake's baseball tournament last week. They discovered that Jake has great potential to be a very good pitcher.  The season is over and Jake is excited to spend the rest of the summer fishing.

Happy Birthday to our son-in-law Rob, seated at the head of the table.  Partly there because he always insists on facing the door of a restaurant. He says it is a Chicago thing. Bob also insists that he is facing the door of a restaurant.  I would have agreed that it is a Chicago thing but I have a friend from Texas that also needs to be facing the door. So, maybe it's more like paranoia?
Rob does not like a big "to do" about his birthday but we got together for a brunch yesterday at Cantina Laredo in Ft. Worth to celebrate.  By the way, it is a great restaurant. Rob is very special to us and the rest of the family.  He is a wonderful and attentive husband to Joy and Dad to Brooke and Austin.  What more could you want from a son-in-law who is so loving and giving to our daughter and grandchildren. We love him very much.

Bob's brother Lee and his wife Maria came to visit from the Chicago area.  Maria had never been to Texas so we planned a couple of things that we thought would be fun and interesting.  There are so many destinations in Texas to visit that we could not possibly show Maria in one week.  So we thought we would start from home and also go to Galveston.  One of the things on their bucket list would be to put their feet in the gulf.  Galveston is such a quaint and old city with a lot of charm and history.

We started at home with a boat ride on the lake. Bob was hoping he had enough gas to get us to the marina but as you can see in the photo we ran out of gas about a hundred yards from the marina.  Some very nice people towed us in.  With Bob and boats there is always a lot of excitement and a story to tell.

Our stay in Galveston was delightful and fun.  We also toured a lot of Fort Worth and ate at some nice restaurants.

I'm not picking on Bob but the funniest thing that happened besides running out of gas was when he got in trouble at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.  Bob and I had ear phones giving us information regarding each painting.  Lee and Maria didn't get one so Bob was explaining a painting to Maria while pointing his finger back and forth to each item.  He was about a foot from the painting but the guard approached him telling him to be careful and that his fingers could fall into the painting especially with Maria behind him as she might push him into it.  It was really funny but you had to be there.

Hopefully Lee and Maria will return someday to tour other areas of Texas and to spend more time visiting.  It is always surprising how fast time goes when you are having fun.
