Good News for Bob!!!
I generally like to use my blog to share photos and current family events with friends and family. Sometimes it is handy to use it for more serious matters. Saturday Bob and I woke up and even made the comment that we had nothing planned for the weekend. We later realized that we don't always get to make plans for ourselves because sometimes something can happen that will either change your plans or make your plans. Saturday afternoon Bob had been moving rocks on the beach (now that the water is low) and went into the garage to get a chisel and hammer. As he was passing through the living room I stopped him while I read Linda's blog giving us information regarding my brother Tim's recovery from heart surgery. As he was standing there the hammer slipped from Bob's left hand. He picked the hammer back up and put it into his hands again and again it slipped out. He then realized he had no strength in his hand. Then his arm began to tingle. After that, the tingling moved to his side and stomach area. Then upwards to the side of his face and he tasted metal in that side of his mouth. He told me what was happening and I ran upstairs and brought him some aspirin. Bob was anxious to get into the car because of fear of it possibly moving to his legs. We could have called the ambulance but we would have been taken to the nearest hospital which is Decatur. Our preference is Grapevine because our Doctors are there. As we began to drive we were still trying to decide if we should go to an urgent care center but decided they would probably take him to an emergency room anyway. Once we were there they decided to admit him for tests. At that time his symptoms were gone except for the weakness in his hand. After spending the weekend there the test results were all good. They said he had a TIA (mini stroke). They put him on blood thinners and an aspirin a day. His Doctor will be monitoring him for the next six months. We are so thankful that there are no blockages or any narrowing of the veins. His heart is also in very good shape. Bob has no symptoms now and is feeling good.

Thank you, thank you for the photos and the jokes. They go a long way to reassure us. Sorry, Joy, but he's my Bob, too!
