Below is the Fortified Church of St. Stefan in Saschiz Romania. Saschiz meant the "Village of the Seven Churches" Today's evangelical church, situated in the center of Saschiz was built approximately in 1493. It was first a Roman style church and later became a Cistercian Gothic church which was dedicated to the Hungarian King, Stefan the Holy. The church played a religious and defensive role so that they could protect the congregation. There is a separate tower.

The interior has an Austian Baroque style altar dating from 1735. The baptistry is made up of three parts. The bottom is from 1400, the middle from 1709 and the upper is from 1620. The organ is one of the ten largest of Transylvania which was built in 1788.
